Tile. Burnt bicycle tire. Paper. Tree pulp.
50 x 76 cm/19 x 30 in
Returning to Toronto after a 6 year hiatus, I was taken by the many ‘pieces’ that laid in the streets. Pieces that got left behind and somewhere mixed with other memories lived, died or thrown away.
* ‘Tile’ - perhaps blown off a roof from an immigrant that made his or her way here so many years ago with a pocket full of dreams.
* ‘Burnt bicycle tire’ - left to the elements, chained to a tree, after a chase or a desperate soul not understanding how to ask for help. Now they encript another story.
* ‘NY fashion labels’ - was it a bad idea and nothing sold or the season is over and it is now so ‘yesterday’
I saw beauty. I saw shapes. I saw abstracts. I loved the way the elements had beaten them down creating art itself too intriguing to pass by. They had my attention, perhaps to have one last say. Stories began to form as they now share the same page.
